Lisa’s guest was Congressman Jim Himes. He referred to the Middletown, CT power plant catastrophe trying to figure out what happened. Lisa said the NY Times feels there is no safety red flag, right now. Lisa then referred to some angry letters she received about Mr. Himes being the only CT representative to sign a letter asking President Obama to stop the Gaza blockade in Israel. Keith Ellison, (D-MN) the only Congressman who is a Muslim, linked to CAIR which is linked to Hamas, authored the letter. Himes is a strong supporter of Israel and encourages people to read the letter which moderates call to ease the situation in Gaza. Himes recognizes that Israel imposed the blockade out of fear, but the people of Gaza are experiencing desperate conditions. Hamas is the aggressor and he does not want to do anything to reduce Israel’s security, but not want people to live in slum conditions. Lisa: The letter on its face is not a concern, having said that the US is sometimes the only ally. Israel has tried to break the impasse with humanitarian help. Some European countries have been aggressive against Israel. Himes has been to Israel several times and said the Israelis do their very best not to hurt civilians. The letter is actually less of a big deal than the blog seems to tell. Lisa said we need constant reassurance that Israel is supported by the US. Himes believes the Senate needs to act and pass something concerning financial reform. The banks made a ton of money and are less and less regulated. Lisa said banks are going toward the Republican way of thinking. Himes feels folks have it wrong, they need to have faith and confidence in the system.

Lisa feels Russia and Iran are thumbing their nose at the world with their nuclear pact. In the meantime Iran hangs people for not believing in G-d.

The Tea Party convention in Nashville invited Sarah Palin and embraced her as a spokesperson. Lisa doesn’t really know anyone who rally’s around her. She thinks Sarah Palin says everything in a condescending way. Lisa was hoping the Tea Party would come up with some solutions and be a movement. But she sees them as a fringe right wing element of the Republican Party. There is no formal independent party in this country and the majority of people are unaffiliated with any party in CT. Lisa felt that Sarah Palin was the reason that many people did not vote for McCain in 2008.

Best Selling Author, Jackie Collins, was on and talked about her 27th book, Poor Little Bitch Girl. Jackie is the younger sister of actress Joan Collins. She explained that she feels her father is like the father on the TV show Mad Men. When she was growing up it affected the fact that there was huge double standard going on. She feels that girls can do anything.

The Super Bowl was viewed by 97.5 million people rivaling the amount of people who watched the last episode of the TV show MASH (105.9).

Lisa’s Chutzpah award went to: MTV who said the people in the cast of Jersey Shores are trying to rake in the cash and make the show trashy, by their personal appearances.

Lisa says we all have to love each other more and morals need to be kept. Inside Yale’s Sex scene Yale News polled over 5000 people, and they found it is a hookup culture. They have carnal interaction over relationships. It is a sad view of Yale. And it is sad how dating has disappeared. There are no more social situations available to young people anymore. Young people are given a message that they need to do whatever everyone else does. For women especially, they need to be kept safe. And the ease these “hookups” are made it is difficult to develop a meaning and emotional relationship. Woman need to have higher expectations, and set the bar high.
